From Whole G Bakery, located on Hamilton Street in New Haven, have sprung to G Café Bakeries. The older sibling is located on Main Street in Branford, the younger sib located on Orange Street near Chapel Street.
G Café doesn’t just offer the German-style breads for which it has become famous, but also an array of breakfast items, soups, salads, sandwiches, panini, pizzas, pockets, pastries, cookies and beverages. While a substantial number of customers order their food to go, even more seem to pay at the counter, find a high stool at the counter in the front or a regular table in the sunny back room, and then wait for their names to be called out as their food is being brought to the table.
The staff is friendly, the food is delicious. In no time at all, the little bakeshop on the edge of Pitkin Plaza has become a big hit.
THE VERDICT: G Café Bakery in New Haven offers a variety of delightful foods in an easygoing setting.
